Square One Solar owns a patent pending solar technology for the manufacturing of low cost photovoltaic panels.
The Company is looking for strategic partners and sub-licensees to fund and develop our commercial production development work. Our solar technology has the potential to change the face of the photovoltaic solar energy industry around the world. It uses a proprietary solution printed on different substrates, encapsulated in laminate film. SOS is looking at a projected retail PV panel price of less than $1.50 per Watt peak versus an industry average of $3.60 per Watt peak (Wp). The low cost and low pricing strategy has the potential to sell our products at “grid parity” price of $1.50 per Wp within a relatively short time.
This technology has the potential to become a “disruptive” technology to the silicone cell PV manufacturers (which has over 90% of market share). Silicone cell manufacturing is restricted by the supply of silicone, which drives the cost of silicone-related PV panels. Other thin film system such as, CIGS and Cadmium Telluride systems have similar challenges with supply, price and toxicity. Dye-sensitive cells have low efficiency.
The Company’s solution contains an array of nano-particle components in such minute quantity that it will not affect the supply or price of the cells. The Company’s PV cells will have efficiencies of 8% and up to 13%, which equal and/or exceed the efficiency of other thin film technologies.
